Since joining Corporate Goth circa 2001, I somehow became an Elder Goth. Few and far between now are opportunities to wear fishnets, velvet, and nice boots, but one can dream!

In my last job, where the dress code was all casual, all the time, I was the one employee who *never* dressed casually. Not only did none of my co-workers ever see me in leggings or jeans, they never saw my bare legs. I always wore skirts or dresses (typically in dark, solid colors), most often with black tights. Apart from the occasional purple dye job, I didn't present as Gothy as I used to. I miss the days of fishnets and heels and my hooded black velvet cloak!

At the moment, finding a job! Even at Elder Goth age, I refuse to tone down my hair or makeup, even if my wardrobe is more subdued than it used to be. I crave authenticity in all my relationships, both personal and professional, which means that I'm not very good at playing office politics. And I refuse to learn.
